Balding for Dollars raises community awareness for childhood cancer and blood disorders, provides funding to support the oncology program at BC Children's Hospital, and supports kids and their families throughout their journey.

This donation is supporting our friends, the Openshaws, and their identical 3 year old twin boys, Weston and Bennett, who are both fighting Leukemia.

Alisha and Mike Openshaw have 3 boys, Jackson (8), Weston (3) and Bennett (3). 

In April 2022 one of their boys, Weston, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Because the boys share the exact same DNA being identical, there was a 20% chance that Bennett may also develop ALL.  Four months later in August, their lives were turned upside down, again, getting the terrible news that Bennett would also be battling leukemia. 

As you can imagine, Alisha and Mike are spending most of their days at BC Children’s Hospital and they have even had new protocols put in place at Children’s to deal with having identical twins being treated simultaneously. 
 

We thought we could try to give back to an organization that has given some support to the boys.
