Since Kate was born on May 21st, 2009 many family, friends & community have walked or run with team Kuz of Kate and BC Children’s Hospital over the years. Kate was born with a rare heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus. In her short life she needed six open heart surgeries to reconstruct her truncus and replace heart valves as she grew.
This year on February 22nd Kate had one of these surgeries. Two weeks into her recovery, complications of bleeding required her to endure another long open heart surgery on March 12th. Her little body went through too much, Kate left this world on April 5th with Dave and I at her side.
Kate loved the ChildRun, which is now called Race For The Kids. She wanted to participate this year. Please join us Sunday, June 12th on this path through Queen Elizabeth Park in support of BC Children’s Hospital and in memory of our Kate.
Most know that Kate had a sharp wit with infectious smile and laugh. We will walk, smile and laugh for her and with her. Please come with her favourite colour, light blue.
If you are unable to be there with us, please consider supporting by donating to the Race For The Kids, team Kuz of Kate. Thank you.
